Did you ever dress up in 'grown up' clothes when you were a child? Was mom's closet a doorway to day dreams (nighttime, too)? There's nothing like finding a crinoline to spark the imagination. Perhaps, you were part of the neighborhood kids who liked to put on shows for anyone who would watch. Did you try to make your own costume?

Wanting to become our favorite characters from movies, television, and books doesn't go away when we grow up! Recollections is here with you in your quest to create just the right character for your next party or other special event. Our period clothing encompasses the Regency, Victorian, and Edwardian eras, as well as the Roaring 20s and vintage 1950s inspired designs. So, how may we help you?

Were you immersed in Jane Austen or Charles Dickens growing up? Did you dress up as your favorite princess or storybook character? Did you find F. Scott Fitzgerald's characters irresistible during high school English? Are you glued to period dramas (or comedies), not only for the stories, but for the clothes worn by the characters? Maybe you've caught the steampunk 'bug.' There are so many wonderful stories, both fiction and non-fiction upon which to draw that the possibilities are nearly limitless.

Jane Austen's romance stories are set during the Regency era. When you think of the women of Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Emma, Persuasion, Northanger Abbey, and Mansfield Park, visions of loveliness in delicate high-waisted slips of dresses come to mind.

The poems of Lord Byron, William Wordsworth, and John Keats all spark the romance of the era. What better way to immerse yourself in all the era offers than to take a page from one of its finest offerings?

Mary Shelley's Frankenstein is also set during the Regency era. That story is the catalyst of countless interpretations through film and television. Who can forget Elsa Lanchester as the Bride of Frankenstein?

Another Regency era story is Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights. Can you imagine yourself as Cathy? Who is your Heathcliff?

Our Victorian period clothing offers a very wide selection representing the evolution of fashion throughout the more than 60-year reign of Queen Victoria. Do you see yourself a young Queen Victoria starting out life with her beloved Albert?

Charles Dickens gave us many beloved characters who live in our imaginations to this day. A Christmas Carol is a holiday classic that lives on in live performance as well as on film and television.

Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass are firmly planted in the Victorian era. The Queen of Hearts and her glorious Victorian regalia are a sight to behold!

So many great stories and characters came out of the Victorian era. Jane Eyre, Anna Karenina, Dracula, The Phantom of the Opera, Sweeney Todd, Peter Pan, The Age of Innocence, Anne of Green Gables, and so many more. Recollections' Victorian period clothing and your imagination are all you need to create the character of your dreams.

The American Civil War may have occurred during the Victorian era, but the Antebellum period leading up to it and the 1860s have a style all their own. Who wouldn't want to be Scarlett O'Hara, Melanie, or one of the women at a party at Tara from Gone With the Wind? Another bad girl of the Old South was Jezebel. Bette Davis found her match in Henry Fonda.

Then, there are all of the stories centered around Abraham Lincoln. Recollections features a lovely gown whose design was inspired by Mary Todd Lincoln. Our Civil War section features many beautiful dresses and gowns for your next re-enactment or special event.

Perhaps, you are part of an Old West or Pioneer re-enactment group and need to develop a character to enhance your participation. Whether you envision yourself a 'Harvey Girl,' a saloon girl, or a strong-willed woman like Katie McLintock, we have a design that will bring out your individual style.

Dorothy, Glinda, and the Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz border the late Victorian Era with an added side of steampunk. Or, maybe your next party theme is based on the Artful Detective, another delightful series that spans the Late Victorian and Edwardian era that has a steampunk theme running through it. The possibilities are endless when you start with Recollections fashions.

Are you a Downton Abbey fan? Which member of the Crawley family or staff are you? Start your next Downton Abbey-themed event with our Edwardian and 1920s period clothing. Our Edwardian fashions are also perfect for your Titanic-themed party. If you are a Somewhere in Time fan, you've come to the right spot. Our exquisite Edwardian designs will make you feel as beautiful as Elise McKenna!

Do you love the Roaring 20s? The Jazz Age and all it had to offer comes alive when you wear one of our fashions. Whether you are a fan of The Great Gatsby, love Curtis and Lemmon in Some Like it Hot, envision yourself as Velma Kelly or Roxie Hart from Chicago, or a mobster's moll from Bullets Over Broadway, our period clothing provides a canvas for your inner artiste.

Are you a fan of those big circular skirts of the 1950s? Do you still love watching reruns of of Mad Men? Are you enamored with Audrey Hepburn? Maybe Hairspray fills more of your vision of the 1950s, or perhaps, Pleasantville is more to your liking? We have fashions that will satisfy your desire to swish and swoosh into your next party or event!

Recollections' period clothing is inspired by more than 150 years of fashion. Let us help you with your next event, re-enactment, or live theater, television or movie production.
