Mary Poppins, a fictional character, is an efficient, sensible English nanny with magical abilities which include using her umbrella as a parachute. The character was first introduced in 1934 in the book Mary Poppins written by children's author P.L. Travers. We have dressed the governess in a royal blue cotton twill suit with chemisette and gingham bow tie. The jacket has a short attached cape, turn back lapels, and is double breasted closing with silver toned buttons. The high collared white chemisette, which fills in the neckline, closes in front with buttons. The red and white checked bow tie is attached to a to a clip and can be pinned on the chemisette. The tea length skirt measures approximately 35" and has an elastic waist.
