Between Rose, Isobel, Mary, and the Dowager, everybody this episode’s got a boyfriend! But before we go too far, if you’ve missed out on the last episode, check out our recap!

The Dowager and Aunt Rosamund try to catch Cora and tell her the truth about Edith and the mysterious Marigold, but Mrs. Drewe beats them to the punch. After a good tongue lashing from Cora, the three decide to go to London to retrieve Edith. Mary the Ice Queen of course has no compassion for her younger sister’s plight, and the Dowager zings her at dinner. Edith decides to retrieve the child back from the Drewe family, and Mary nearly ruins their plan by showing up at the station.

Speaking of Mary the Ice Queen, she still tries to get Tony to fall for the sassy Mabel Lane Fox. She and Charles Blake devise a plan to get Tony off of Mary’s back. She goes to London, makes out with Charles, and Tony’s gone for good. Even though she says that Charles doesn’t want to be with her, I have a feeling we will be seeing a lot more of them together.

Rose is still smitten with the good-looking and smooth-talking Atticus. His parents are prominent members of the Jewish community, and hate that Rose is Protestant. And, Dicky Merton’s sons force them to defend themselves, which compels Atticus to propose to Rose and of course she says yes. How adorable.

Isobel’s getting married! Well, maybe. She announces it at dinner, and the Dowager is saddened because she and Isobel became friends over the years. Mary the Ice Queen, of course doesn’t grasp that, because she has no emotions. However, Lord Merton’s bratty sons nearly drive Isobel out of the relationship with their banter about her social class. She’s left disheartened and confused and hurt.

In the servant’s quarters, Daisy was feeling downtrodden with her studies because of the failure of the labor government. Mosley devises a plan, however, that works and gets her back on the books. Since Bates’ ticket was burned by Mary the Ice Queen, his proof of innocence has been lost forever. Baxter tries to make amends, but the Bates couple won’t have it.

Even though Lord Merton’s son’s spectacle at dinner was probably the climax of the show, the saddest part was when Isis, the family dog, dies at the end of the episode. I know she’s just a dog, but it’s still upsetting. I cried.

Rose will be planning her wedding, and I can’t wait to see the dress and the appearance of her horrible mother on the next episode. The season is winding down, and there is a lot they’re going to have to squeeze in before the end comes!
