ghouls guides in front of trolley

Who offers Richmond, Virginia’s one stop for a ghoulishly good time?  From June through the beginning of November, Capital Creepers presents patrons with two hauntingly fun options to get their scare on.  Whether you choose the Eerie Nights walking tour or the Ghouls Ghost trolley / walking tour, you are in for an unforgettable excursion through one of our nation’s most haunted cities.

Six years ago, Keith Kaufelt and Paige Hones merged their 14 years of combined experience and passion for haunted history with a desire to increase nightlife options for Richmond’s residents and visitors.  The result is described by Keith as a “high quality theatrical experience that has become a fun night out on the town.”

Keith and Paige’s familiarity with the industry allowed them to set a high bar.  They brought in some of the gore and spooky effects from haunted house attractions to their ghost tours; something that was not being done in the Richmond area.  They’ve been able to create a unique experience that guests call “much more entertaining” than other ghost tours they’ve taken.

eerie nights tour guidesThe Eerie Nights Ghost Tour features guides who use costumes and special-effects makeup to create characters who bring the history and paranormal activity of Richmond to life by taking visitors to several historical and haunted locations.  Expect to walk for up to 90 minutes on this tour.

The Ghouls Ghost Tour features ghostly guides from 1920s Richmond and visits different locations than the Eerie Nights Ghost Tour.  It is a trolley tour offered in partnership with RVA Historic Tours.  A one hour stroll to various locations is included in the journey.

Applicants pass through a rigorous interview and audition process in order to be a guide for Capital Creepers.  Some have extensive theatrical experience, but all have the gift to tell a story with the ability to draw the listener into the adventure.  Guides must also possess the ability to think quickly while interacting with guests between stops.

Both tours are theatrical experiences geared toward mature audiences. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.  You’ll discover Richmond history that is surprising, shocking, and thrilling through a one-of-a-kind theatrical story telling experience that will leave you wanting more!  The 2014 season ends on November 1 and the 2015 season starts in June, but Capital Creepers offers private tours any time of the year.
