Cindy, Seamstress

Cynthia is one of Recollection’s long-time seamstresses! She does it all with sewing! Cynthia makes blouses and jackets from the beginning to end, from putting in the sleeves to the final touches.

Semi-retired as of January 2009, Cindy has not slowed down a bit.  About a year and a half ago, she and her husband moved across the state back to Traverse City to be near her family.  There she opened her own sewing business, “Cindy’s Alterations” and continues to sew for Recollections and others.

Prior to working at Recollections, Cynthia worked in Traverse City for 35 years at a sewing factory. When asked why she chose sewing she replied, "It was the only job available at the time, but I quickly learned that it was the right choice for me." After living in Traverse City she moved to Lachine located in the Long Rapids area in 1999. She married in 1995, and she and her loving husband who had four children. Cynthia has two children: a boy and a girl. She is also the proud grandmother of 13 grandchildren, and she enjoys going to watch them play sports.

In her spare time, Quilting is Cynthia’s main hobby. She loves the work put into each quilt. She likes camping in the Upper Peninsula and at Clear
Lake. One day, she would love to travel. Hockey is her number one sport to watch and she hopes to see the Red Wings play someday.

She is a sweet lady with a warm heart. Her compassion for her co-workers and her job are clearly seen. Easy to talk to, she quickly becomes a good friend.

Cynthia finds that the work put into each item at Recollections is truly special. She finds the staff fantastic to work with. "There is always something new and exciting happening at Recollections," she added.
