Annie Oakley was born in 1860 in Ohio. She became a star, known for her sharpshooting, in the Buffalo Bill Wild West Show. She travelled with her husband across the country and abroad during the Victorian and Edwardian eras performing her rifle skills. She chose a male-dominated sport and became famous throughout the world. Her costume of choice for the shows was simple and modest, such as the one we are showing here.
