Often gored, the skirts of the Edwardian era featured a slimming flute silhouette. Resembling a lily flower, the skirts hung softly over the hips with wide hemlines. Mermaid, corselet and hobble skirts were ever popular during the period.

The mermaid skirt caused a scandal when first introduced in 1901! Focusing heavily on a tight hip-hugging silhouette, the skirt flattered and drew attention to the wearer's bottom. Popular from 1905-1907, the corselet skirt featured a fuller backend and often a train. Meanwhile, the hobble skirt was so narrow at the knees it was often hard for the wearer to walk without hobbling. Popularized at the end of the Edwardian era, these skirts were a short lived fashion trend for good reason!

Recollections offers a variety of Edwardian era skirts with slimming flute silhouettes. No hobble skirts here, thank goodness! Our skirts are made of the finest materials in a variety of shapes and sizes. Choose from charming calico, seductive velvet or delicate lace fabric.
