Attend a Victorian Ball

Historic Calvert Texas will be the site of a very special Victorian weekend on October 6-7, 2012, where guests will attend the 12th Annual Calvert Victorian Tea and Gala. Tea and dancing aren’t the only items on the agenda for the weekend though. Saturday morning will kick off the event with a parade featuring all sorts of vintage conveyances. After the parade attendees are encouraged to visit the shops and restaurants on Main Street.

Break out your favorite ball gown for Saturday evening, guests will go to the historic Virginia Field Park Pavilion and dance to music by the Celtaire String Band. There will also be a costume contest with prizes.

On Sunday morning you can rest those tired feet while you take a hayride to see highlights of Calvert’s extensive historic district, which is listed on the National Historic Registry. Once back from the hayride, it will be time to prepare for an afternoon tea at the Barton-Satterwhite Home, which was built circa 1909. The tea includes both sweet and savory home-baked items, served by Victorian-clad servers. You can also play a game of English lawn croquet and enter the tea hat contest.
