I'm a one-room schoolhouse teacher for late 18th century historical demonstrations. When my husband passed away 18 month ago, I decided to purchase the mourning gown instead of using my typical shirtwaist & skirts. My husband participated in pioneer demonstrations as well, and I continue in honor of him. Many who visited my schoolroom commented that "I looked like I belong in the 1880's".

I bought this as a wicked witch costume, but it is made as a high quality garmet. Excellent fabric and excellent finishing. For reenactors, this would make an excellent base garmet, using a variety of aprons to change the look.

I purchased this dress to use in my job as a ghost tour guide. It is beautifully made, a dress, not a costume. I have enjoyed many compliments and will certainly order from Recollections again.

This gown looks very plain in the pictures, but it is not. From the marvelous huge puffed sleeves (with netting inside to keep them puffed), the full gathered and pleated skirt to the myriad of tiny buttons down the front - everything is so very Victorian. I immediately felt like I was in a different century as soon as I put it on. Barb in customer service helped with getting the right size and they even did some alterations for me to make it fit just right. It fits perfectly. I am so very impressed with the quality of the workmanship. I guess you can tell I am in love with this dress and with the company.

Today I received this dress along with some other items from Recollections. Thanks to the staff for E-mailing me to make sure I ordered just the right size (it was perfect) The quality of the material and the sewing was a surprise. What a value, I love this dress. I will be ordering more from this company.
