Historical Clothing Company and Michigan Painter Collaborate: Stepping Back In Time

(Mackinac Island, MI -June 15, 16 2010)

Mackinac Island, Michigan was a gem for a collaborating project between local Michigan historic and romantic clothing company,
Recollections, Inc.,and the artistic father and son duo, New York photographer David Murcko and renowned Michigan painter Bill Murcko.

Three houses down from the Grand Hotel, The Pines "Cottage" or as locals refer to it as the 'Foundation',
was chosen to have the shoot as well picturesque outdoor locations around the island.
Owner/ Designer Marianne Fairbanks created an early summer collection of 30 gowns and dresses to capture the spirit of the 1880-1909 eras.

A tea party, playing lawn croquet, in the gardens and looking out onto the blue water are just a few of the charming summer moments captured.
Models portrayed popular 'looks' of the period: aristocratic ladies, the independent Gibson Girl, and Victorian American women.

Internationally known painter Bill Murcko will spend the next year creating a collection of 10-15 large paintings from the photographs of David Murcko.
The collection will be shown a year from now, in 2011, at possible locations in Washington D.C., Boston and in Michigan.
