In the Old West, Boomtowns were created by early settlers exploring the New Frontier. Many flocked to the Gold Rush settlements in California, Arizona and Washington. Women living in these settlements learned to be tough like Annie Oakley and Pearl West. They were strong and kept up tradition, taking care of their appearance and dress as they adapted to their new surroundings while incorporating social standards.

As far as the neckline goes, large taffeta and lace collars were worn to decorate plain bodices. The larger the collar, the better. Lace capes were worn indoors, while capes made of heavier fabrics were worn outdoors to protect the wearer from the elements. Cameos decorated the ears and the neckline as earrings and broches. Gloves were worn to keep the hands soft and unblemished.

Here at Recollections, we carry a variety of Old West fashion accessories. We have cameos, lace collars, chemisettes, fichus, chokers, necklaces, capes and jabots to frame the face. We also have fans for keeping off the heat and flirting with cowboys, pins for the hair, reticules to keep money safe, and ankle boots and spat boots to complete the look.

All Recollections products are made in the USA. Our friendly sales representatives are here to help you with any questions you may have. We're excited to help you complete your next (or first) Old West look with our authentic accessories!
