Sea Change Theatre Company’s Story

Sea Change Theatre Company is a semi-professional nonprofit theatre company that presented its first season in 2012.  This new troupe is located in Beverly, Massachusetts, on the Atlantic coast about one half hour’s drive north of Boston.

The company offers a series of four thought-provoking theatrical works, including classical plays, operas, and original productions.  Each season, the company debuts a new work, offering playwrights the opportunity to see their writing come to life.  Each production illuminates the human experience by inspiring purpose and offering hope through compelling stories.

Sea Change Theatre Company offers opportunities in every aspect of theatre production and is dedicated to cultivating New England talent.  Each production is modestly priced, offering the opportunity for individuals and families on budgets the chance to see quality theatrical productions close to home.

The Core

The company’s core consists of Artistic Director, Jason Schaum, Associate Artistic Director, Staci Skiles Schaum, Business Writer, Jonathan Dixon.  Each one brings a unique set of theatrical skills; performance to stage managing to writing.  Their talents combine to provide the structure in which Sea Change Theatre Company thrives.

Cultivating Playwrights

Sea Change is sponsoring its first contest for playwrights in 2015.  All genres are accepted, with the main considerations being that the play has not been produced before and that it be engaging to audiences from New England.  This is the perfect opportunity for new talent to be discovered.

Production History

Past performances include “Importance of Being Earnest,” “Christmas Memories,” “Xerxes,” “Braids,” and “The Foreigner” during its debut season, 2012-2013; and “Three Christmas,” “Antigone,” and “In the Territories” during its 2013-2014 season.  The current seasons productions include “Hamlet,” “Cariboo Magi,” “La Duse,” and “Dear Ruth.”

Recollections and Sea of Change Theatre

It was for costume needs for “Cariboo Magi” that brought Sea Change Theatre Company to Recollections.  The production needed just the right blouse for the actress portraying the aging, pregnant child star.  We are happy to be a part of this production and look forward to fulfilling their costume needs in the future.
