Val has worked for Recollections for 12 years. She is a seamstress, orders fabrics and notions from ten different companies, answers phones, has traveled to conventions for product marketing, and can sew over 200 button holes on an average day! Val remembers learning how to sew in a 4-H class and started out making Barbie clothes when she was a little girl. She later advanced and began making dresses for dances and special events for herself and for friends. She is married and has one son and one daughter. Val loves spending time with her family, their big chocolate lab and beagle, and with their puppies too. She is a friendly, outgoing person with an extensive community theater background. She has created costumes for countless productions and has performed as an actress in Grease, The Music Man, South Pacific, and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. One of her best memories was traveling to Toronto to see The Phantom of the Opera, and she really hopes to visit Ireland someday. Val says she loves her job even when things get hectic sometimes! She enjoys the Christmas-like excitement of opening newly arrived shipments and the fact that people are looking at and ordering dresses that she helped make and design. She says that it’s the uniqueness of what they do at Recollections that makes them exceptional and that it’s great being a part of something so special.
