Patricia Perry

Sneak Peek Productions

Where can someone get a scarlet “A” pinned to their chest for “making folly”? No, we aren’t observing a re-enactment of poor Hester Prynne’s fate, but rather one of Patricia Perry’s Sneak Peek Productions. Patricia – an historical interpreter - helps her audience sneak a peek at history with her many interactive programs. As an historical interpreter, Patricia is not limited to presenting an actual person or event frozen in time, but can rather broaden her presentations to themes or ideas – such as colonial hygiene or Victorian life. In addition to pinning on Scarlet letters, her audience just might taste a bullwhip in her “Crime and Punishment” show. Ever the educator, one of Patricia’s goals is to have people not only enjoy the presentations, but also to leave with a deeper understanding of the past and how it relates to them.

Born a native New Englander, Patricia and her family spent 25 years in San Diego where she worked as a teacher. After returning home to New England, she took a part-time job as an historical site interpreter and loved it. Just over four years ago, she opened Sneak Peek Productions, and says, “It’s the best job I’ve ever had. What other job lets you interact with all types of people, play dress up, research, and educate while entertaining?” And educate and entertain she does!

When asked what she likes most about what she does, Patricia says she enjoys the looks of fascination, the laughing and the comments from the audience. She is especially pleased when folks, especially the young, come up after the show and remark that they love history or they want to do what she does. She loves when people share their recollections of family members or events. She knows from this that her show touched them on a personal level. She says, “That is why I do what I do!”

Patricia’s newest program is titled, “Timescapes: Victorian Life”. Timescapes is a complete multi-day historical immersion. Sneak Peek Productions partners with a host site (such as a hotel) to offer guests the chance to live in the past. Customized to meet the host site’s requirements for their guests, Victorian Life options include lessons in etiquette and dining, a Victorian dinner party, picnic, strolling in the park, ballroom dance lessons, and more. Guests are helped to dress as Victorians to complete the transformation. Patricia says she loves this new program because she gets to portray a Victorian lady for several days at a time. Some of her other programs include titles like “Under the Petticoats”, “The First Ladies”, and “Witches” - all guaranteed to make you want to sneak a peek at the past.

Sneak Peak’s web site has a five minute video which gives an idea of the tone and favor of some of the shows. Patricia can be reached by e-mail at sneakpeekproductions@cox.net or by phone at (401) 663-5612. Sneak Peek Productions also has a Facebook page. Each day, fans are presented with the Historical Tidbit for the Day, Sneak Peek style. That means the tidbits will amaze, amuse, delight or astonish you. Patricia says, “Blushing is always an option when reading one of Sneak Peek Productions’ Historical Tidbit for the Day!”
